The Los Angeles Police Department is kicking off the Memorial Day weekend Friday night with a DUI checkpoint in Chatsworth.
From 7 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday, officers will be monitoring drivers for signs of intoxication on Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Devonshire Street and Chatsworth Street.
Motorists who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be subject to a field sobriety test and will be arrested and booked if they fail.
Funding for the LAPD's DUI checkpoints is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
