After months of speculation about her next career move, Katie Couric is reportedly nearing the final stages of negotiations for $20 million deal with ABC.
According to TMZ, the journalist is close to signing the package, which would offer her ABC News "20/20 specials as well as fill-in anchoring gigs and a syndicated one-hour talk show.
Sources say that the Katie-fronted program would begin sometime in September 2012, and could cause the network to give back its affiliates the hour where "General Hospital" airs to make room for her.
All of this means that ABC, who has already canceled "One Life to Live" and "All My Children," may also axe the third-longest running soap opera in history for the swap.
