He?s always been proud to be from the Motor City, and last night (May 1) Kid Rock was in the house for Detroit?s NAACP Fundraising Dinner.
The ?Born Free? singer was given the Great Expectations Award, and during his acceptance speech he made sure to clear the air about his use of the Confederate Flag during his concerts.
Rock explained, ?I love America. I love Detroit, and I love black people. I've never flown that flag with any hate in my heart. Not one ounce.?
NAACP President Wendell Anthony added, "We're not lifting up the flag. We're lifting up a gentleman who has worked very hard to be a booster for Detroit."
