Robbie Williams has rejoined Take That for their Progress tour

Robbie Williams has revealed he's been using testosterone jabs twice a week since a doctor told him he had extremely low levels of the sex hormone.

The Take That star - married to American actress Ayda Field, 33 - originally went to the medic for some Human Growth Hormone 2 years ago.

'It's what all the old fellas are on out there in LA that's making them look 40 instead of 60,' says Robbie, 37.

'It's improving their health, their memory, their hair, skin.

'Could give you cancer. I weighed that up. Thought I'd have it anyway. Went to see a Hollywood doctor. Had my blood tests.'

But when Robbie went back for his results, he was shocked to be told his body produced drastically low levels of testosterone - the hormone that boosts sex drive and is essential for good health.

'[The doctor] said, "You don't need HGH. You've got the testosterone of a 100-year-old man",' Robbie tells Esquire magazine.

'And then everything made sense. It was kind of an epiphany that day.

'It has changed my life. I feel I'm getting a second wind.'
