Just call her the Duchess of Chic. Kate Middleton is feeling her way around her new status as a royal with poise, sophistication and a killer wardrobe. USA TODAY replicates Middleton's best looks from the past few weeks.
ARK GALA DINNER, June 9
On Kate: The duchess wowed in one of her first post-honeymoon appearances wearing a sequined, blush-colored Jenny Packham gown that hugged her figure like a second skin. Middleton, ever the minimalist, accessorizes with cream peeptoe heels, a matching blush box clutch and spot-on pink lipstick.
On you: Formal wear in a neutral hue is timeless and flattering on pretty much everyone.
FRIEND'S WEDDING, June 11
On Kate: Middleton changed out of her white jacket but kept on her hat as she joined her equally fashionable sister, Pippa Middleton, for a wedding in Lambourn, England. The duchess' black and white graphic print dress is playful and young. Again, she chooses simple accessories: a thin black belt, black clutch and basic black pumps.
On you: Graphic prints are an easy way to look modern and fresh without much fuss. Find a print that flatters your figure and draws the eye away from problem areas.
TROOPING THE COLOUR CEREMONY, June 11
On Kate: Her royal highness is a vision in off-white as she stands with her husband Prince William at Buckingham Palace in a superbly fitted, double-breasted ivory jacket, which she paired with a black hat.
On you: To ensure you don't appear boxy in a double-breasted jacket, get it tailored so that it fits you just right.
PRINCE PHILIP'S 90th BIRTHDAY, June 12
On Kate: The duchess opted for a monochromatic look in head-to-toe blue. Like the graphic print dress she wore the day before, Middleton chose to shop her closet, re-wearing pieces ? the blue jacket and dress ? that she'd been seen in before she became royalty. How common of her!
On you: Monochromatic dressing is chic, but tricky. If it's your first time, avoid citrus brights and experiment with safe shades ? beige, dark gray, cream ? to avoid looking like a banana.
ORDER OF THE GARTER SERVICE, June 13
On Kate: The duchess goes for the monochromatic look again, wearing a silky silver dress under an embroidered metallic linen jacket. She ties it all together with simple gray pumps and a silver fascinator.
On you: If you haven't mustered up the courage to wear a fascinator this side of the pond, opt for an embellished headband or an elegant jeweled barrette.
