Congresswoman Giffords and astronaut husband to publish memoir

By Carol Memmott, USA TODAY

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, U.S. Navy captain and astronaut Mark Kelly, will publish a memoir, Scribner announced today. Though no publication date has been set, the memoir is described as a deeply personal account of their lives including their courtship, Giffords' political career and the Jan. 8 shooting in Arizona in which Giffords and 12 others were gravely wounded by a gunman. Six other people were killed. Giffords is still recovering from a gunshot to the head. She recently moved from TIRR Memorial Hermann, the Houston hospital that has cared for since she was injured, into her husband's home in a Houston suburb. She will continue to visit the hospital daily for rehabilitation. "Gabby and I are forever grateful for the heartfelt support we've received over these many months. We are looking forward to sharing our story," Kelly says in a press release issued by Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
